"Do Seek Their Meat From God"
Reading Charles G.D. Roberts' short story causes me to think about the differences between animals and human beings. As I recall the two little dead cubs in the cave at the end of the story, I sense the sadness and pity that overcame the humans. On the contrary, I doubt that the panther had the same compassion towards the dead kid. Humans, through technology, have the power and the advantage to enhance, to protect and to take control of their lives. However, animals are powerless in that they are incapable of changing their circumstances. Their only choice is to fend for themselves by adapting to their surroundings. These environments have often been affected by humans. For example, when in search for food, animals must often go to where humans have settled. This scarcity of resources for animals shows the power advantage that human beings possess over animals.

If we don't have weapons,I guess the animals will be in position of power.
ReplyDeleteIt was good seeing your responses to the short stories! I think you are right about how the panthers would not feel pity for the humans...great point! Continue to write reflective and thoughtful responses to literature! Keep posting!
