I was never a big
fan of the Canucks but the excitement and rowdiness around me during playoffs
turned me into a “big fan.” I went downtown and was sitting on the ground at
the Sony store watching all the demo TVs playing the last game. Everyone
sitting on the ground gasped when the Canucks missed a shot. Since I’m not a
keen Canucks fan, I left during second period because I could see the loss
coming. After I got home, the news was reporting the uncontrollable riot. There
were cars burning, broken windows, and looting. I could not believe that the
people on TV were people I had sat next to who were chanting and nice to each
other during the game. I was surprised by the theft from different stores. I
realized that whether we won or not, the riot would still have happened. The
Canucks were only an excuse for the rioters to start the riot in this rowdy
environment. I was really lucky to get home safe before the crazy riot
destroyed the city.
